WHERE to stay? Many people prefer a Barcelona hotel somewhere along Las Ramblas, the main "vertical" street which divides the Gothic Quarter and El Raval with Plaça de Catalunya at the top and the tall statue of Christopher Columbus at the beach. Some prefer hotels in the pedestrian, old Gothic Quarter while others prefer the more modern locations near the Placa Catalunya or in the quieter, residential L'Eixample district. Many FC Barcelona Barça fans may want a hotel near the Camp Nou stadium. Wherever you stay, most every place in Barcelona is accessible by their elaborate metro system.
